When State and Religion are one the freedom and rights of the Individual are compromised. Too much power is concentrated into the hands of the few.
In Utah all the religious power is in the hands of the male population. The lives of single women are controlled by men that women are taught to trust as servants of Christ. The reality is most people are not worthy of that kind of trust. It has become intolerable for young divorced women with children as well as older widowed or divorced women to survive the psychological abuses. In my case the State which is represented by the members of the Church combined to abuse then destroy all evidence of the abuse.
My mistake was in believing God wouldn't allow it to happen. Trusting that a man in my religious hierarchy was honest and that anyone cared if they were being a good representative of the people. My illness prevented me from seeing the absurdity of my conclusions. Thanks to a Doctor of Psychology who has great faith in our shared religion I found the treatment I needed to move forward. I'm now going to attempt to explain how twisted all of this is without appearing to be paranoid. That is the difficulty of knowing what paranoid is and understanding what any normal person would think. My illness had always been my greatest weakness. To have those who swear to do no harm turn and abuse that pledge is the greatest sin or abuse of power anyone can inflict. When State and Religion join forces against the weak the only result can be hell on earth for the believer.
What becomes of someone that is betrayed by their religious leaders and state representatives, who happen to be the same? I'll let you know later.
